She was born about 1794 in Surry County, North Carolina, USA and her parents were Ann Radford (Poindexter) and Daniel Scott.

Elizabeth "Betsy" Pledge Scott married on 18 Aug 1811 in Surry County, North Carolina, USA to Samuel Martin, son of Mary (Clarkson) and Job Martin

In August 1896 some of her descendants unsuccessfully applied to the Dawes Commission for Cherokee heritage status.

She died on 27 Mar 1849 in Surry County, North Carolina, USA.
