of Rev James Scott
Dated Aug 22 1782
"Item Whereas I some years ago made a purchase of slaves belonging to Col. Thos. Blackburn which slaves were under Execution for debts due from the said Blackburn & for which I made myself liable by Bond, now my will and desire is and I hereby declare that those slaves shall be only considered as under a mortgage for the payment of my engagements & that they shall still as they have done hitherto remain in the possession of the said Blackburn liable only to a discharge of those debts contracted for him & shall after such discharge revert to the full & entire possession & be the legal right of the said Blackburn his Ex'rs and Adm'rs as fully as I had never made such purchase, I hereby forbid and annull any claim which my heirs or any of them may set up to the said slaves or any-thing else in consequence of my purchase under these executions further than the balance of such part of my engagements as still remain due.
Item I give one other third of the money arising from such sales to the separate use of my daughter Christian Blackburn during her natural life without the interposition of her husband Thomas Blackburn Esq and without the interposition of any future husband that my said daughter may marry hereafter and I give to my said daughter full power by her last will and testament whether she be married or single to dispose of the same in any manner she may think proper to any child or children that she now hath or hereafter may have by the said Thomas Blackburn Esq. and in case my said daughter shall make no such disposition then I direct the same after her death to be equally divided between all the children of the said Thomas and Christian Blackburn which shall he then living and the children of such as are dead, the children of those that shall be dead taking such part as their deceased parent would have taken if living."

Scott-5614 and Scott-5619 appear to represent the same person because: Hi Jennifer,You are the manager of both Scotr-5614 Christina Scott and Scott-5619 Christian Scott. Please merge them. They are in fact the same person. I always thought my 5th great gmother was Christina Scott, but after much research and finding the will of her father James, I see her name is actually Christian Scott.
