Marilla "Rilla" Seay was born on February 15, 1881 in Valley Falls, Spartanburg County South Carolina to William H. Seay and Zennie Clementine Cook Seay. Rilla was the sister of of James B. Seay, Clementine Seay, Mattie (Cook) Bullington, Laura M. Seay, Della Seay Chapman, Joseph Butler Seay, Samuel Seay, Corrie Seay, Carl Seay and William F. Seay

Rilla married Oliver Roscoe Stephens about 1901 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. They had at least the following children:

  1. Zennie Lula (Stephens) Ayers,
  2. James Stephens,
  3. Mary Stephens,
  4. Minnie Stephens,
  5. Carry Estell Stephens, b. 2/5/1911[1]
  6. Ada Stephens Bradley, and
  7. Robert Louis Stephens

Rilla died Nov 15, 1938 in Valley Falls and is buried at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church Cemetery. Boiling Springs, Spartanburg County, South Carolina[1]
