Biography

Flag of Somerset (adopted 2013)
Richard Seymour was born in Somerset, England.

Birth

Richard was born about 1378. He is the son of Richard St. Maur and Ela de St. Lo.

Marriage

Richard married Mary (Peyvre) Broughton in 1409. He seems to have met with an accident shortly after the marriage - dieing before the birth of his child. Mary also died 2 days after giving birth to their child Alice.

There is an entry in Inquisitions Post Mortem, Henry IV [1] that confirms she is a widow and states:

writ 560 on 28 July 1409:

Mary widow of Richard de Sancto Mauro, Knight. Writs 27 and 28 July 1409. She died on 25 July last. Alice her daughter, aged 2 days at time of her death, (fathered by Richard Seymour, heir of the lands that she may have held jointly with Richard II Seymour and the heirs of her body.) John Broughton, her son and heir general, was then aged 1 ½ years

Death

He died[1] in 1409 without a male heir.
