Robert married Rebecca Sloan on January 23, 1868 in Pulaski, Kentucky, United States.[7]
He came with family in 1883 to Asherville, Mitchell, Kansas and bought a farm on Asher Creek.[8]
Around 1897, Robert was stricken with paralysis from a stroke which left one side of his body unusable. Four years later, he suffered a second stroke which left him as an invalid.[8]
Robert suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and a week later died on January 16, 1917 in Scottsville, Mitchell, Kansas, United States.[8] He was buried at Summit Cemetery in Jamestown, Cloud, Kansas, United States.[9]
