Biography

John Shaver was born on 24 Feb 1755 in Rowan, North Carolina to parents John Shaver and Catrina Bernhard. The Wendel Miller History (John's father-in-law) states that he came from Germany with three brothers who settled in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. [1]

He married Anna Maria Miller about 1771 Rowan, North Carolina.

Children: Jacob, Abraham, Philpena, Rachel Jane, John S, Naomi, Eli Caleb, Anna, Rachel, Barbara.

He died on 26 Sep 1844 at age 89 years, 7 months, 21 days in Rowan, North Carolina. [2]

His will was written 16 Nov 1843 and probated in Nov 1844. John Shaver Sr. named his nine living children and disposed of the 1, 462 acres he owned in Rowan County at that time. His wife had proceeded him in death. [3]

On 9 Mar 1812 John bought land from David Woodson for 50 pounds, 263 acres on Flat Creek (Rowan Co, Deed book 22;438). He bought 400 acres from James Lewis in 1791 (Rowan Co, Deed book 12:39). He bought 400 acres from David Woodson on 8 Nov 1788 (Rowan Co, Deed book 11:578).

Shaver-1991 and Shaver-141 do not represent the same person because: it seems that the Shaver who married Blackwelder died in Arkansas 10 years before the Shaver who died in North Carolina. The profiles attached as children of the two need review.

Shaver-1991 and Shaver-141 appear to represent the same person because: The dates on the profiles are not the same, but are similar. Rachel Shaver is listed on both profiles as a daughter. It appears to be intended to refer to the same person, but clean-up is needed.
