William Shearin Sr. was a Virginia colonist.

William Shearin was born to John and Lucretia Shearin.[1]

Residence

He appears on the 1755 tax list for Granville County, North Carolina for his father John who was taxed a poll for himself and one for son William and also taxed for two slaves named Beb and Juda.[2][3]

He also appears on the tax lists of Granville County, North Carolina for 1760, 1761 and 1763.[4]

Marriage

William married Elizabeth Colclough in 1765 Bute Co. NC.[5]

May 1756. Granville Co., NC. William CHEEK witnesses a deed from David KELLY of Brunswick Co., VA, to William SHERRIN, conveying 200 acres on John JARRIS' line. (Granville Deed Book 1, pp.79-80.)[6]

1782 Aug.13th,~Ordered that on the petition of Sundry of the inhabitants of Six Pound,to renew a road put down last Court, be reviewed, and James Milam be appointed Overseer of the same,who also will repair the said road with the hands of William Shearin,Thomas Hall, Mary Todd, Dudley Darnel,Lewis Milam and Cader White.[14]



1783 Feb 11th, Administration on the Estate of Benjamin Colcough,deceased,with the will annex granted to John Colcough,he entered into bond William Shearin and John Baxter his securities for the discharge of his said administration and letters granted. Page 120.[15]

Death

He died in 1792 in Warren County, North Carolina.[16][17]
