Eliza was born on the 23rd June 1813 the daughter of Percy Bysshe Shelley and Harriet (Westbrooke) Shelley, and she was christened on the 26th January 1815 at St. George, Hannover Square, Westminster, Middlesex.[1]
In 1814 Eliza's parents Percy and Harriet, pregnant with their son Charles, separated. Two years later on the 10th December 1816 Harriet's body was found in an advanced state of a further pregnancy, drowned in the Serpentine in Hyde Park, London.[2]
Eliza marriedEdward Jefferies Esdaile and the marriage was registered in the 3rd quarter 1837 in Taunton, Somerset.[3]
1841 Census on the 6th June 1841 Eliza was living in Bishops Lydeard, Somerset with her husband Edward and their daughter Ianthe and an un-named daughter aged one month.[4][5]
1851 Census on the 30th March 1851 Eliza was living in Terhill House, Pittville Circus, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire with her husband Edward and their children Eliza, Charles, William and Mary.[6][7]
1861 Census on the 7th April 1861 Eliza was living in Terhill House, Pittville Circus, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire with her husband Edward and their children Eliza, Charles and William.[8][9]
1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 Eliza was living in Cothelstone House, Bishops Lydeard, Somerset with her husband Edward and their son Charles.[10][11]
Death
Eliza died aged 63 and her death was registered in the 2nd quarter 1876 in Clifton, Gloucestershire. She was buried at Cothelstone House, Bishops Lydeard, Somerset on the 21st May 1876.[12][13][14][15]
