(May not be incorrect, may have dies after census) Thomas and Katie are shown in a July US Census for 1880 with his age at 77 and hers at 64. There is a difficulty with this Census. It says Thomas' father was born in PA and Mother in England.

Located in the 1846 and 1847 Wisconsin state census records for Turtle Township, Rock County, Wisconsin. These records are in the Wisconsin Historical Society Library located on the campus in Madison, Wisconsin.

The following year brought J. C. Webb, Ardin Austin, The Cowgirls, and the Dinghams, who bought out the Bowmans'.

Wintz//Page 418:Thomas Showers built a log house on the north half of that same quarter section (south half of the southeast quarter of section 22) and made the first improvements of the same, in 1851.Thomas Showers and Jacob Hodges bought the southwest quarter of section fifteen, and made the first improvements on that quarter section in 1855-56.
In the 1850 census of Annawan, Henry County, IL, his mother is listed as "Rebecca Showers"; we have no information on the Showers name back further than that at this time. She may have been a widow,2nd wife, ?? We have not found a grave site for her.
Death information from Adams County, Iowa, indicates that he may have died from a tick-borne illness due to the description of the death and the time of the year.[1]
