Research Notes

Speculation by Bill & Lillian Etter is that she is the Anna Siegrist, born 1691 in the village of Vordemwald, Aargau canton. An Anna Marie Siegrist was bap 3 Jun 1694 there, parents Ulrich Siegrist and Elizabeth Sager, who were married 26 May, 1689. An unsourced family tree on Ancestry agrees with Hans, but has his wife as Verna Luscher; Ulrich's parents as Hans and Elisabeth Wasmer, and next generation as Thomas Siegrist and Elspeth Ruegger.

The date and place of birth, as well as the identity of her parents could not be confirmed. Suggested dates of birth are in the range between 1683 and 1694, with 1694 being somewhat unlikely, since her first child was born in Dec 1711. There are also various suggestions found for the identity of her parents (see above and in Find A Grave).

In the Christening records of her children, her first name is always shown as Anna, but others have suggested Anna Maria.

A note about the last name of Anna: It likely was Sigrist (as spelled in her children's christening records) or Siegrist (a common spelling of that name in Switzerland). However, Seigrist is not correct, as this spelling did not exist in Switzerland.
