Biography

I am a passionate historian and genealogist and I love to help people. It began with what I thought would be a casual interest in genealogy, but almost from the beginning I was hooked. On my paternal side I am the direct descendant of 70+ Plymouth Colony Residents, including eight Mayflower passengers, five of whom I have certification for via the Mayflower Society and/or the Pilgrim John Howland Society.

My maternal ancestry is based in the South, with most of my ancestors arriving via Virginia and Maryland prior to 1720, including multiple ancestors from the 2nd Germanna Colony.

My ancestry includes 29 DAR qualifying ancestors and two Salem witches. In addition to the Patriots, I discovered I also have a group of Loyalist ancestors who founded the town of Rawdon, Nova Scotia. And I have ancestors that fought on both sides during the Civil War… History has truly come alive for me by being able to place my ancestors in the historical events that occurred during their lifetimes.

Today I use traditional genealogical research combined with DNA triangulation and onomastics to break down brick walls, and I partner with a 3rd cousin to help DNA cousins find their “missing” ancestors.

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz, Valerie!

Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential.

I recommend for your Pre-1700 project: US Southern Colonies Project leaders are Paula J and Mags Gaulden, or Virginia Project, leader- Liz Shifflett

Or use the Pre-1700 Projects list to review other possibilities. Join those which are a good fit.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

Hi there! My name is Vicky (Freeth) Majewski and I am a WikiTree Mentor.

This is just a courtesy e-mail to see how things are going. Are you enjoying WikiTree so far? Any questions? Any issues?

Feel free to contact me via my profile page. I am happy to help!

You probably already know that the Mayflower "Silver Books" document much of the Delano family due to their intermarriage with Mayflower descendants. Recently, the New England Historic Genealogical Society (AmericanAncestors.org) has digitized the silver books (although they have only indexed the 5th generation). It's my belief that much of the Delano family is already documented here in WikiTree.
