Biography

James was born in 1861. He is the son of Richard Simmons and Jane Brock. James Washington Simmons, known as "Black Jim" by his relatives and close friends, was often called "Tater Jim" because he was such a good farmer. He was born April 27, 1861 and died July 10, 1924, according to the marker at his grave and according to family records. He i s buried at Tylertown, Mississippi. He married Mardeanie (Deanie) - Smith. They lived at Simon, Mississippi, just south of Tylertown, where "Black Jim" operated a large farm and a wood business. Deanie is livin g there on the old place today. Two of her sons, Ralph and Acy (Asa) are single and live with her[1]
