Verlinda Simmons was born in Prince Georges County, MD in about 1773. She came with her family to Kentucky and was in Nelson County, KY in 1791 when she was married[1] to William Daniel. The bondsman for her marriage was William Simmons and Ben Grayson was a witness. The bond noted that Verlinda was the daughter of "the widow Verlinda Simmons". Verlinda Simmons gave permission for her daughter's marriage, which was witnessed by William Simmons. This was just the bond for their marriage, so the actual marriage took place later. Their marriage ceremony[2] took place on 4 October 1791 and the official who performed the marriage was William Taylor.

Verlinda can be traced in census records in Christian and Todd Counties, KY in the household of William Daniel. She was apparently deceased before the 1850 census.

Simmons-15715 and Simmons-795 appear to represent the same person because: I propose to merge my Simmons- 1571 with your Simmons -795, clearly the same person and apologize for the inconvenience. I'm still trying to find my footing here at WikiTree and didn't notice I was creating a double.

Thanks, Randy (Cullers-164)
