Biography

John Simmons was born at Duxbury, Plymouth County, Massachusetts about 1644.[1] He married Mercy Pabodie on 16 Nov 1669 at Duxbury. Mercy was born at Duxbury 2 Jan 1649/1650. John died at Duxbury before 9 Feb 1715/1716. Mercy died there 26 Sep 1728.

John Simmons’ parents were Moses Simonson and Sarah Unknown (not Chandler).[2]

  6. Moses, b. Feb., 1680; d. June 21, 1761
  7. Joseph, b. 1683; d. May 30, 1761

  9. Joshua Simmons was born about Jun 1688 in Duxbury, Plymouth Co., MA. He died 2 on 15 Jan 1774 in Duxbury, Plymouth Co., MA. Joshua married Sarah Delano on 4 Apr 1728 in Duxbury, Plymouth Co., MA. Sarah was born 4 about 1708 in Duxbury, Plymouth Co., MA.

Probate

On 9 February 1715, his widow was granted the administration of his estate.[4]

On 11 February 1715/16, the settlement agreement of his estate was signed by his heirs, viz., his widow, Mercy, Moses (youngest son), John (eldest son), William, Isaac, Benjamin, Joseph, Joshua, Martha, wife of Samuel West, and Rebeckah, wife of Constant Southworth[5]

The last Will and Testament for each of John Simmons and Mercy Simmons are in Lorenzo Albert Simmons’ History of the Simmons Family...[2]

Simmons-12711 and Simmons-3 appear to represent the same person because: the death information is the same, both profiles are linked to the same wife, and both profiles have a son Joseph (of which there are also duplicate profiles). The birth year is different on the two profiles and needs to be determined.
