Note

Researchers in the past have corrected all records to reflect the last name as Sinclair. A few of John's children did use that surname after the 1850 Indiana census. This family were Simpler's in Delaware and St.Clair's or Sinclair by the time they settled in Indian. I have no idea how the surname change came about.

“Also on file at the Vigo County Library is a chart on the St.Clair family which was also prepared by Maud Russell. In comparing the Fanny/Siner/Eli St.Clair section, a few discrepancies were found.”
