I have restored an unmerged match, with the following comment,

Simpson-2174 and Unknown-146383 are not ready to be merged because: The profile (Simpson-2174) was originally created about the wife of Robert Taft. Later, links to parents were added.

  • Profile of Robert Taft (abt.1640-1725) reports the maiden name of his wife is unknown. If Simpson-2174 is about the wife of Robert Taft, then it should be freed of the link to parents (with appropriate research note), then merged into this Unknown-146383.
  • In the alternative, profile of Saran Simpson includes links to BOTH baptismal and burial records for Sarah, daughter of William Simpson and his wife Gartrude/Gertrude. Ala, this profile might be left as their daughter, but freed of her identity as Robert Taft's wife (again, with appropriate research notes).

I rejected the match as Sarah Simpson evidently has a birth record.

Unknown-146383 and Simpson-2174 appear to represent the same person because: I have DNA evidence that Sarah (Unknown) Taft is Sarah SImpson. Sarah Taft is my direct ancestor, and I have 2 DNA matches to known descendants of the Forbes clan. Sarah Simpson's great grandmother is Isobel Forbes. I could find no other connection to Forbes besides through Sarah Taft.

Please contact me with any questions.

Thank you, Jason Hutchinson

Unknown-146383 and Simpson-2174 do not represent the same person because: There is no supporting evidence for LNAB or attached Simpson parents.

I did find some evidence that Sarah Simpson and Sarah Taft are the same person. I am a direct descendant of Sarah Taft. I have multiple DNA matches to direct descendants of Alexander de Forbes, which would be Sarah Simpson's 6th GGF. I think it is likely Sarah Taft and Sarah Simpson are the same person.

There is no evidence that Sarah, wife of Robert Taft LNAB was Simpson, though it is often speculated that she was related to his friend Saville Simpson. There is also no confirmation/source for these parents of which I am aware. Do you have any sources?

Unknown-146383 and Simpson-2174 are not ready to be merged because: There is no evidence that Sarah's last name was Simpson, only speculation. If these two profiles are to be merged, they should retain Sarah LNAB as Unknown.
