Skaggs-1490 and Skaggs-293 appear to represent the same person because: These are duplicate profiles for the same man, irrespective of unrealistic dates and information in the Unsourced profile Skaggs-1490. Neither Fincastle or Botetourt existed then, and John Gourdhead was born much later. (A different John Skaggs married to Ruth Elkins Bishop.)

All the Skaggs family were in Maryland first and migrated to Virginia. It's nearly impossible to know whether the oldest Skaggs members were born. Later ones were born in Virginia.

Ruth's husband John obviously never left Virginia and the other John appears to have been born in Maryland and ended up in Kentucky.

The confabulation of these two has led to a great deal of confusion! Thanks to Bill Vincent for providing the excellent estate papers that clarify the situation!!!

There is no will for Moses, he died Intestate. The Court records over the estate of Moses is excellent. It proves from witness accounts that John was alive after 1800 in Kentucky. That is the brother of Moses.

So John Scaggs that married Ruth Elkins and left estate records in 1780 and property to Zachariah Scaggs and Rachel Scaggs in Montgomery Virginia is not Moses's brother. The bastad child of Ruth called Darkey Gothrin proves that Moses's and Johns line of Scaggs have no claim to Indian blood. its in Ruth line and this John Scaggs is with the wrong parent.

Skagg-7 and Skaggs-293 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicate profiles. Same date of birth. Both sons of James & Rachel. "SKAGGS" is most appropriate spelling.

Skaggs-635 and Skaggs-293 appear to represent the same person because: John Skaggs who married Ruth Elkins. Duplicate profiles. Please merge.
