Have any males in your Slabaugh line participated in Y-DNA to support or help identify earlier patriarchs? I had a cousin of mine test to help with some of our earlier Slaybaugh families, but we still haven't determine the father of our William Slaybaugh who died 1896 in Carroll County, Indiana.

Connie, do you happen to speak any other languages? Would you check out our languages template and add it to your biography? For example you might add

{{ Languages | en | fr-2 | ga-1 }}

to the top of your biography if you speak English natively, intermediate French and basic Irish, or you could use de-4 to specify near-native German or ru-1 for basic Russian, and so forth up to ten languages.

It really helps to know who speaks all the different languages used on WikiTree! If you only speak English, you're very welcome to use this text to make that clear:

{{ Languages | en }}

Thanks,

Karen

I'm not related to Christian Kile, but I started to help a newer member, Glen Kile, and found some info I thought I would add to this profile.

How is everything going?

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi Connie

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering and we hope that you will add to your own family tree here and help our genealogists find their "cousins".

Have fun, enjoy the site and don't forget to ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.

We also have a question of the week on our g2g forum at: What's your favorite family heirloom?

If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.

Thanks, Dorothy

Hi Connie,

Welcome to WikiTree! We’re really glad you’re here.

The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as one collaborative team.

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree?

When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way.

Welcome to the family!

Carole

P.S. I'm always happy to answer questions.
