William was born January 4, 1855 in Arkansas. His parents are unknown at this time.
The 1880 Parker County, Texas census lists him in the household of A. E. Robertson. William is 26 years of age being born 1854 in Arkansas. He is working on their farm. [1]
He married Sarah Jane Plumlee on November 6, 1887 in Parker County, Texas. [2]
In 1900, he was residing in Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. This census identifies his father as Kentucky-born, and his mother as Arkansas-born. The census also indicates he'd been married 13 years, calculating back to a marriage year of about 1887.[3]
William and family are residing in Cooke County, Texas in 1910. On the census for that year he is listed as 55 years of age being born 1855 in Arkansas. He is farming the land that he has rented. His wife Sarah and he list they have been married for 22 years. Included in the household are their two sons and four daughters. William states his father was born in Georgia and his mother was born in Missouri. In 1900 he listed his father was born in Kentucky and mother in Arkansas. [4]
The family are residing in Forestburg, Montague, Texas in 1920. William is 65 years of age and still shows he was born 1855 in Arkansas. He and his wife Sarah own their farm. Included in the household are two sons and two daughters. He lists his father was born in Georgia and his mother in Missouri which is consistent with the 1910 census but not 1900. [5]
He passed away September 22, 1924 in Hardy, Montague, Texas. His death certificate identifies his parents as "Unknown." It appears the informant was his son Henry.[6] William was laid to rest in Hardy Cemetery, Hardy, Montague, Texas, United States. [7]
