Biography

occupation - tenant farmer The family lived on a succession of farms in the eastern part of York County, Pennsylvania: a. south of New Bridgeville in Chanceford Township, b. near the present Wrightsville Reservoir, south-southwest of Wrightsville in Hellam Township, c. near the Susquehanna River, northeast of New Bridgeville in Chanceford Township (Green Branch Road) (10), d. on the southeast side of Mt. Pigah (Samual Lewis State Park) in Lower Windsor Township After 1920, when Howard and Harry were young men, the family moved to Hellam, Hellam Township, York County, Pennsylvania, where they lived at 16 Prospect Street (9, 10). 4) The obituary of Jacob Smeltzer contains a lot of details on his cause of death. Jacob suffered a stroke while attending a Friday-evening revival at St. Paul's Evangelical (now Faith United Methodist) Church. This led to the abrupt ending of the revival meeting. He died two days later (9).
