This was my Great Grand Father. He rode horse back from Concord, NC to Wolfe Ridge Texas. Where he married Pauline Hugon on May 12, 1895. Nine months and 9 days later, my Grandfather was born on Feb 21, 1896, David Hicks Smith.

David Hicks Smith married and lived in Wolfe Ridge, Texas, Cooke County, until 1942, when Camp Hoze took over their land for a WWII training camp. They relocated to the Old Denton Road and lived there the remainder of their lives. Henry Martin Smith lived there also.

After WW2 ended, David Hicks Smith was allowed to purchase the land back from the US government for $68 per acre. He owned 1,000 acres. The land at Wolfe Ridge was known as "The Army Camp".

I have pictures of Henry Smith. He had silver hair and a silver handle bar mustache, crystal blue eyes. He was a farmer, raised cattle and was a great carpenter. I have an old wagon he built. I have been told it has perfect balance. It has wagon type wheels made from metal. I have a picture of Henry Martin Smith with his brother Dock. I will add it as soon as I find it. I also have pictures of the brothers and his wife, Pauline Hugon. AS SOON as possible I will add them.
