Margaret Smith was born in February 1824 in Tennessee. She passed away in May 1908 in Miller County, Missouri and is buried in Livingston Cemetery, Miller County.
There is a problem with Margaret's birth year. Her gravestone gives the date 2 February 1824, but census records do not agree. In 1870 she is 41, b. 1829; in 1880 age 50, b 1830; 1900 census gives date Feb 1827. I am inclined to use the 1827 birth year. It fits better with other census records than does 1824.
Marriage
Husband: Mr. Forester
Wife: Margaret Smith
Marriage:
Date: About 1850
Place: Miller County, Missouri
Margaret's first husband is unknown. All we do know is she had two children, William H. and Nancy J. Forester, before she married William Shackelford.
William was divorced from his first wife about 1862/63. He married Margaret (Smith) Forester about 1863 in Miller County. Margaret was a widow with two children: Nancy J. and William H. Forester. They are listed on this census with the surname Shackleford. Also in the household are children of William and Margaret: Rhoda, John K. and Perry D. Perry is listed as male, age 6 mos., but it appears as if this is daughter Paralee who appears on the 1880 census, age 10.
Margaret is widowed, age 73. She is living with her son William Forester and daughter Paralee (Shackelford) Fike.
