Biography

Dean Smith was born circa 1698, the son of John and Bethia (Snow) Smith of Eastham, Barnstable, Province of Massachusetts Bay.^[1][2]

On 17 Oct 1720, he married Hester or Esther, daughter of John Rider of Yarmouth, Massachusetts^{[1][2] [3]}. Their children included:

1. Esther Smith^[1], born 6 July 1721; d. bef. 31 Jul 1734^[2]
2. Dean Smith^[1], born about 1722 Yarmouth, who married Rachel Hopkins March 14 1744/5 in Harwich^[2]
3. Miriam Smith^[1], born May 1725, who married Lot Gray, Jr^[2]
4. Heman Smith^[1], born 1726, who married Mary or Miriam Lincoln 5 December 1751 in Harwich, and then married Jane (Foster) Davis^[2]
5. Asaph Smith, born February 18, 1728/9. ^{[4] [1]}

Dean Smith died before March 18, 1729, when his estate was administered^{[1][2] [5]}.
