Biography
Mary B.. Smith was born on Saturday, October 4, 1884 in Hayfield Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. She was the second of three children with an older brother, Jesse Guy (Tuesday, March 28, 1882 - Tuesday, November 20, 1979), and a younger sister, Coral D. Wiard (Sunday, August 28, 1892 - Tuesday, November 15, 1966). They grew up on a farm with their parents, Dennis O. (Thursday, September 24, 1957 - Thursday, February 26, 1942) and Emma A. Morris Smith (Thursday, April 19 1855 - Wednesday, October 9, 1935).
On Thursday, December 21, 1911 Mary married Thomas Shelenberger in Rundellstown, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. She was a career school teacher and a member of the Cussewago United Methodist Church. Mary passed away on Saturday, August 31, 1968 at Smith Institute (Crawford County Home). She was buried at the Saegertown Cemetery, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
