Fictitious Wife

Andrew Somers is sometimes said to have married an Elizabeth Smith. There are no documents that support this outside of family trees, and this is contrary to the recorded remembrance of Andrew Somers' son Martin.^[1].

The idea of a wife named Elizabeth is most likely a confusion that arose among Andrew Somers' descendants, many of whom are also descended from Andrew Steeves who did actually marry a wife named Elizabeth Smith.
