"Alfred Sonczalla, 66, Ladymith, died Feb. 27 at Rusk County Memorial Nursing Home. He had had cancer for four years. Born June 18, 1916 in Lone Tree, N.D., he was the son of Albert and Anna Sconzalla. He moved to Rusk County in 1920. He was a member of the Air Force from 1942-1946. He was affiliated with Hope Lutheran Church. He was united in marriage to Marie Lelm in June, 1965. Survivors include his wife, Marie; one son, Thomas Sonczalla of Prescott, Ariz.; one stepson, Terry Lelm, Ladysmith; and one stepdaughter, Faye Lelm Dickerson, Colfax, Iowa; five grandchildren; one brother, Frank Sonczalla, Ladysmith; and three sisters, Carolina Foltz, Palm Springs, Calif., Frances Forham, Palm Springs, Calif., and Roseann Ekman, Holland, Mich. Funeral services were held at Hope Lutheran Church March 2, with Pastor Gerhard Bretheim officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery under the direction of McElravy-Geier Funeral Home." [8]
