Biography

Malissa Matilda Spangler was born on March 15, 1849 in Patrick, Virginia, United States, daughter of George Washington Spangler (1818–1917).^[1] In 1850, Melissa (1) was in the household of Geo W Spangler in Patrick county, part of, Patrick, Virginia. ^[2] In 1860, Melissa (11) was in the household of Washington Spangler. ^[3] In 1870, Malissa (21) was in the household of Geo W Spangler in Virginia. ^[4] Malissa (22) married Benjamin C. Sutphin on May 15, 1871.^[5] Malissa died on July 11, 1927 in Bluefield, Tazewell, Virginia, aged 78. She was buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Bluefield, Tazewell County, Virginia.^[6]
