Nov 20, 1723 from R Speake of CC, planter, to Joshua Rattcliff of CC, planter, for and in consideration of the yearly rent of 540 lbs of tobacco, the lease of a certain parcel of land in CC, part of a tract of land called the Reserve, bounded by the Reedy Branch, "including his now dwelling plantation". To have and to hold, sd parcel of land with liberty of cutting timber for the use of sd plantation, not making waste, for the term of 15 years. The yearly rent is 540 lbs of tobacco, to be paid on Jan 10, to commence from today. Ratliff agrees to plant & leave planted 100 good growing apple trees.
