James Spencer lived in Appalachia, in West Virginia.
James was born about 1784. He married Elizabeth Eliza Haptonstall in December 1808 in Greenbrier County, Virginia. After her death in 1831, he married Mary Cook. As documented in FamilySearch, James and Elizabeth had 12 children and James and Mary had 12 children. He was enumerated in the 1880 US Census on 25 June 1880 as widowed, not working, and living with his son, Washington Spencer. He passed away in July 1880.
