Biography

John Aaron Spivey BIRTH 1815 Bladen County, North Carolina, USA DEATH 1893 (aged 77–78) Coffee County, Georgia, USA BURIAL Spivey Family Cemetery Coffee County, Georgia, USA [1]

Son of Edmond Spivey Jr. 1786–1872 (m: 1804 in Coffee County, Georgia) and Abigail Davis 1787–1855

LIFE SKETCH (familysearch.com) John A. Spivey was first married to Martha Davis (1817–1881), and lived in Coffee Co., Georgia. They divorced in the late 1860's or early 70's. He was a farmer and during the Civil War served as Sheriff of Coffee Co., Georgia.

John A. Spivey next married Martha Sutton (1848–1916) of Coffee Co., Georgia, and they moved to Fox Creek, Clay Co., Alabama. This is where he raised his second family.

NOTE: As told by Andrew J. Spivey Sr., [1879–1955] his father John came to their bedroom early one morning [c1870] and told them (his 1st family) he had to leave for a few months to visit his other family. John Aaron Spivey loaded up his ox cart and left they never saw him again. Apparently told to him by one of his 1/2 siblings from his father's 1st marriage, since he himself was a child of the 2nd family and not born until 1879
