Biography

Hannah Spooner was born/Christened in Hardwick, Worcester, Massachusetts 1792, the daughter of Jeduthan Spooner and his wife Hannah.[1]NOTE: her Christening date was probably 19 October 1792, in Hardwick, Massachusetts, as seen in this record. She was probably born on 15 October 1792.

Hannah Spooner was born 15 October 1792 in Dartmouth (uncertain), Massachusetts, the daughter of Jeduthan Spooner (Revolutionary War vet) and Hannah Crowell. She married Cephas Clapp in 1781 in Hardwick, Massachusetts. They had ten children, six boys and two girls, born between 1815 and 1837. Hannah passed away in West Brookfield, Worcester, Massachusetts on 3 March 1857.[2]

Cephas and Hannah Clapp are mentioned in the birth record of their daughter, Harriet Clapp, born on 10 November 1817 in New Braintree, Worcester, Massachusetts.[4]

In 1850, Cephas Clapp, 62, his wife Hannah, 58, and their son Dwight, 13, lived with Cephas and Hannah’s son Elbert, 35, and his wife Lucretia, 35. They lived on a farm in Warren, Massachusetts. Also living with them was Phebe Clapp, 48 (uncertain relation). All members of the household were born in Massachusetts. Elbert Clapp was a farmer. His property was valued at $1500.[5]

Hannah (Spooner) Clapp, born 15 October 1792 in Hardwick, Worcester, Massachusetts, wife of Cephas Clapp, died, aged 64, on 3 March 1857. She is buried with her husband at Pine Grove Cemetery, Warren, Massachusetts.[6]
