Margaret was born in 1755 to John Spurgeon and Elizabeth Penington in Spartanburg, Laurens, South Carolina. She was living there with her parents during the arrival and settlement of Scots-Irish immigrants in the Carolinas and when Americans were caught up in the turmoil of the French and Indian War. During this time the state was reaping the rewards of the indigo plant. When people took to the streets to protest the Stamp Act in 1765, Margaret Spurgeon was living in South Carolina, one of the colonies opposing British rule. She died in 1811 and was buried in the Ponemah Cemetary in Bogalusa, Washington Parish, Louisiana.

Spurgeon-95 and Spurgeon-363 appear to represent the same person because: believe these profiles are same person, the father is in QUESTION either john or William. i believe William was put as father by mistake William is johns father. so if these profiles could be looked at and merged please...thanks, lisa
Spurgeon-95 and Spurgeon-363 are not ready to be merged because: The correct father must be determined as both John & William show as husbands to Margaret Spurgeon on records in myHeritage.
