Private in the all-black 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry regiment, Company F. Enlisted on 23 December 1863 from Lynn, Massachusetts. He was about 30 years old, married and working as a laborer when he enlisted. Mustered out 20 August 1865.
Death
He passed away in 1899 and is buried at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn, Massachusetts.
