Elijah was born about 1806. He passed away before 1880.
Research Notes
Ruled out: not the Elijah Stafford of Tatnall co. GA. That Elijah married Penelope Surrency in 1836 and Mary Ann Padgett in 1856.
Possibly married Nancy under the surname Hill. I don't know why he would have changed his name. Possibly illegitimate, or adopted by a stepfather, or on the run from the law?
Living next door to him in 1850 Benton co. (now Calhoun co.) AL are James Hill and John C. Hill. Relations?
