Stanley-10232 and Stanley-7040 appear to represent the same person because: Reproposing the merge. I am not sure if I am looking at the same two profiles that were being compared when the merge was deferred, because I do not see the discrepancies described. Both of these men are documented with a death date of 26 Sep 1766, in Kensington, Connecticut -- the dates are identical, not 5 years apart. The birth dates on both profiles are marked as "about" dates, not as precise known dates. Two years difference is not large when estimating a date from 300 years ago. Moreover, I see that the profile that has the 1716 date cites a source that gives the 1718 date. It is clear to me that these two profiles are intended to represent the same man. There were not two different men named John Stanley who both married Sarah Mix on 11 May 1743 and both died on 26 September 1766.

I have done some searching on Stanley-7040 and did change the death year to 1766 upon finding his Find A Grave memorial, this being the only thing I could verify as being the correct John Stanley since there are at least 6 John Stanley's in that family line. I have now proposed that the merge be completed and it is awaiting Alan Peet (I believe is the last name of the profile manager for Stanley-10232) so it can be completed as I am not on the Trusted List for that profile.

Thank you for the initial proposal, and contacting me again to reprepose it.

Hello Anita & Ellen Thought I might chime in with some additional information (source). First I have not been able to confirm the middle name of Kensington and believe is may be a placeholder for his town of birth, From my source, John was born in Kensington, Hartford, Conn. in about 1716 and married a "Sarah ____" (last name unknown). His will, dated 30 June 1759 and presented on 18 December 1766 says that he was entering his Majesty's service and gives his estate to his wife Sarah, his daughter Mary and son's John, Hezekiah, Oliver, Elijah, Salmon. Additionally, there appears to be one additional child, Sarah, baptized 17 April, 1761.

My source is: "Warren, Israel P., 1887, The Stanley families of America: as descended from John, Timothy, and Thomas Stanley of Hartford, Conn., 1636. https://archive.org/details/stanleyfamilieso00byuwarr/page/60/). I hope this assists in your merge decision. Regards, Bill Stanley

I have added the Stanley source and information to this profile.
Stanley-10232 and Stanley-7040 appear to represent the same person because: after creating an unmerged match, i have done some more searching for Stanley 7040 and believe they are the same person and the two should be merged. I could not verify if the year of birth was 1716 or 1718 but did find the year of death to be 1766 not 1761 on Find A Grave memorial for John Stanley V. I could not find any confirmation of a middle name of Kensington however.

Stanley-10232 and Stanley-7040 are not ready to be merged because: there are 2 years difference in birth dates, and 5 years difference in death dates. I feel more research is needed before I can complete a merge between the two.

Stanley-10232 and Stanley-7040 appear to represent the same person because: Both lived in Kensington, both married Sarah Mix, both had child named Elijah. Dates are similar. I think these are the same person.
