Biography

Lucrecia was born about 1770. She was the daughter of Jonathan Stanley and Jerusha Fitch.

Research Notes

There is some discrepancy as to who exactly was the first wife of Samuel Anderson. Some say he first married in about 1787 to Lucrecia Stanley. Others say he first married in 1792 to Martha Ellis. A 1789 deed in the Wilkes County records provides evidence to the latter. Family history says Lucrecia was his first wife.

However, as shown on their 1800 marriage record, Samuel is the bondsman for Shadrach Stanley (Lucrecia's brother) & Hannah Bicknell. And Shadrach & his family are living just a few doors down from Samuel & his family in 1810. This leads me to believe the 2 families are somehow connected.[1]

There are two sets of parents listed for Lucrecia. Johnathan Stanley and Jerusha Fitch and Reuben Stanley and Sarah Coffee. Does anyone have any proof of which is correct?
