Leona "Ona" Staton^[1][2] was born on December 12, 1875,^[3] in Pike County, Kentucky,^[1] to Louisa Varney^[1][3] and Charles Avery Staton.^[1][3]

Circa 1892,^[3] Leona married Colbert Cecil Hinkle.^[3][4] This couple had at least 6 children: sons Garland^[3][5], Earl^[6], Marvin^[6], Chester^[6], and Carlis;^[6] and daughter Ethel Faye.^[2]
