Lincoln was born in 1871 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Melvin and May Sophia Stearns. Lincoln married Rodella M. Pope on 7 December 1893. They had at least six children. Lincoln died in 1917 in St. Louis, Missouri. [1]
In 1910, Lincoln and Rodella lived at 410 W. 5th, Jamestown, Chautauqua, New York. The household included Lincoln, 38, born in NY, as were his parents, an Assistant Secretary in a factory, who owned their house with a mortgage, and who had been married for 16 years; his wife, Rodella M., 36, born in Missouri, as was her mother, and whose father was born in New York. Rodella had had six children, four of whom were living; and their four children: Melvin C., 13, born in Missouri, in school; H. Pope, 10, born in Missouri, in school; John P., 2, born in New York; and Jane M., four months, born in New York. The parents and the two older children could read and write. [2]
