Sarah was born on July 20, 1838 in North Crosby Township, Leeds County, Ontario, Canada. She is the daughter of Samuel Steele and Trophina Smith. [1][2]
John left Sarah in the late 1800s. She moved in with her brother while her older children went to other relatives.

Sarah died at home on South John Street in Belleville, Hastings County, Ontario on her 89th birthday, July 20, 1927.[2]

↑ John Hannah Who?by Gerry Hannah "In the 1891 census Sarah records herself as a widow. Sarah couldn't keep the family together by herself and this census shows Sarah living with her brother John, his wife Cinderella and their eight children.
Bridget is working in Snow Road Station for John and Emma Scales; Thomas, Alexander, and James are also living in Snow Road Station with their sister, Levina and her husband James Colville.
David is married and living in Hinchinbrooke twnshp. William is working as a domestic in the same twnshp,
Jane is married to John Lapointe and living in Bedford. Thomas and George are working on farms in the Fermoy area.
In her later years, Sarah lived with her son, William, at 100 John St. Belleville.She is buried in the Belleville Cemetery."
