Biography

Hampton was born 08 Jun[1] 1829 in Mississippi to Hiram Stewart and Frances "Franky"[2] Bounds.[3] He served in Co A, 21st Louisiana Infantry in the Confederate States Army, died in January[4] 1862 and is buried in Stewart Cemetery, Pearl River County, Mississippi.[5]

He was married to wife Sarah Ann Bourn[6] about 1850[7] and the couple had the following known children:

  1. Emily Stewart was born in Mississippi about 1851.[7]
  2. Thomas Stewart was born in Mississippi about 1853.[7]
  3. Minerva Stewart was born in Mississippi about 1855.[7]
  4. Jesse Stewart was born in Mississippi in April[8] of 1858 and died 24 Jan 1931 at Poplarsville, Pearl River County, Mississippi.[6][9] He was married 17 Feb 1881 in Marion County, Mississippi to Ora Byrd.[10][7]
  5. James Stewart was born in Mississippi about 1860.[7]
