Allan is the son of Dugald Stewart, first of Appin. Allan became heir to his brother Duncan when he died about 1512/3. There is no record of birth for Allan however it is known that he took his five sons with him to the battle of Flodden in 1513. Some of them were likely only boys but it can be assumed that the eldest son, Duncan, was at least 15 years of age which means that Allan was probably at least 33 years of age which means he was born before 1480.
He married Marion of Cameron of Lochiel. They had issue:
Allan seems to have died, at a very advanced age, about or soon after the year 1562.

In your Biograhy on Alan Stewart 3rd Laird of Appin you have his son duncan named as 4th laird. In the succession table you have a John Stewart named. According to your source :-http://www.archive.org/stream/stewartsofappin00stew#page/108/mode/2up [edit] Duncan is alans successor with John then being Duncans. (Too many Duncans & Johns in this family confuses things)
