I am a direct descendent of Alexander Stewart and I have been given my mother's very careful, library-based research on this man.
They had four children - Sarah b 28 Feb 1734- 1803 bapt. 18 Apr 1734
John Alexander 17 Apr. 1737 - 1776
Elizabeth 5 June 1739
Alexander 5 Mar 1742
She also had 2nd source family information, that she has noted:
Notes from Doris (Doree) Sawyer Jimison:
"My father, Herbert Sawyer, sr., said he always remembered what a great fuss and time it was when Uncle George (Kayner) and Aunt Celeste (nee Brownson) came to visit. Their children were Fred, and Carrie K. Ferris. Dad visited Carrie Ferris in Ca. , and rounded out his information from her. I believe it was she who told him that she understood that Alexander was a sea captain, and that he escaped Scotland during the Scotch rebellion, went to No. Ireland, and thence to America. An Alexander Stewart was christened 6 July, 1702 in Bute,, KIlmory, son of Alexander [Stewart?] and Anna McAlester, . Could be him, but it is a common name there. Son William died young.
