Robert Stewart 1st Laird of Laithers was born about 1410 in Lorn (Lorne), Argyll, Scotland. He was the son of Robert Stewart and his wife Johanna Margaret ((Joan) Stewart.
At the Abbey of Aberbrothock on 6 Nov 1468 Patrick Garden of that Ilk and Robert Stewart in Laithers were the leading witnesses to the charter on the lands of Heatherwick which Malcolm Abbot of Aberbrothock granted to Alexander Maule son and apparent heir to Thomas Maule of Panmure and his spouse Elizabeth Guthrie.[1] This Robert Garden in the charter was son or grandson of Robert Stewart Lord Innermeath and was neighbour to John Garden of Laithers who was brother to Patrick. The link between these families is significant.
He passed away about 1470 in Laithers, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. [2]
