Biography

William Leonard Stobart was born in 1857 in Warden OR Haydon Bridge, Northumberland, England to Matthew Stobart and Hannah (Gill) Stobart. His birth was registered in Hexham, Northumberland in the last quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Gill.^[1]

In 1861 [William] L Stobart (age 3) lived at Light Birks in Haydon with his father Matthew (26, Road Maker), mother Hannah (29), and brother John (1).^[2]

In 1871 William Leonard Stobart (age 13, Agricultural Labourer) lived in Haydon with his father Matthew (35, Quarryman), mother Hannah (38), and three brothers: John (11, Scholar), Matthew (7, Scholar), and Joseph (5).^[3]
