Biography

Mary Tufts Stone was born on November 14, 1781. Two marriage dates are presented in records; however, I believe the first date represents the filing of marriage intention and the second date the actual marriage. Therefore, it is posited that Philip Bonner filed his intention to marry Mary Tufts Stone in Boston on December 13, 1803, and they married on January 1, 1804 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Philip and Mary resided in Boston thereafter. Philip was a blacksmith and served as Capt. of a company in Lieut.-Col. Daniel Messenger's regiment that was on service in Boston Oct. 23-30, 1814 during the War of 1812.

Philip and Mary had nine children including David, John, George Washington, Jonathan, William, Mary, Emily Augusta, Eliza Ann, and George.

Mary Tufts (Stone) Bonner passed away in Watertown, Massachusetts on May 28, 1864.
