Susanna[1] was born about 1762 at Fort Stover in present-day Franklin County, Pennsylvania.[2] She was the sixth of nine children and the second of five daughters of Johann Wilhelm and Eva Elizabetha Suss Stover. She had two older half-brothers and an older sister by her father's first wife (who was also her mother's older sister).
She was probably not yet twenty when she married George Gish, by whom she was to bear nine children, only one of whom was a girl.
About 1790, some ten years after they were married, they moved south to Botetourt County, Virginia, where George purchased land on Tinker Creek.
Susanna bore George nine children, eight sons and one daughter: Jacob, George, John, Abraham, David, Samuel, William, Christian, Elizabeth.
She died about 1828, when she was in her late sixties, in Botetourt County of unknown causes.
Maria was born about 1763. She passed away about 1828.
