Biography

Jane Stowe(?) married Ralph Houghton circa 1650/by 1653, at Lancaster.^[1]

Her death appears in the Milton Vital Records Transcripts as "Jane, wife of Ralph Jan 10, 1701 age 75 years"^[2] although the transcript does not indicate the double-year of 1700/01 vs 01/02.

Jane and Ralph are also listed in the Lancaster, MA vital records entry for birth of daughter Experience (indexed as "Esperance")^[3] 1 Oct 1659 (8th month).

One source, available through Ancestry, reports that Ralph Houghton "m Jane Stowe, d 10 Jan 1701". The author provides no citations in support of her last name.^[4] The authors also report that Jane Stowe and Ralph Houghton came to New England in 1647, with John Houghton and his wife Beatrix. There is no evidence for this latter claim that Ralph and John came to New England together.^[5]
