Biography

Jonas is the son of Hirsch Jakob and Mathilde (Baumann) Strauss. He moved to New York and set up a dry goods business with his brother, Louis. They named it J. Strauss Brother & Co.

Jonas married Sophia Metzger. Among their children are:
