The visitation of Devon with additions by Vivian does record the marriage of Thomas Hunt, alderman of Exeter, Devon to Elizabeth dau of ___ Strobridge. Vivian even says she died in 1546, although this is incorrect. She survived her husband. It was a daughter Elizabeth buried then. Thomas of Exeter existed He is well able to be documented and was according to [Vivien ] married to an Elizabeth Strobridge. His children included George, Thomas, Roger and Elizabeth and these are correctly linked to this couple.
Unfortunately Thomas's original birth and death places were sometime after creation changed (or merged?) to those of a man with a knighthood said to be born in Shropshire and died in Lancashire (although it's still a muddle as the Exeter Thomas was buried at St Petrocks Exeter. I doubt there is a Lancashire church dedicated to St Petrock )The other children Robert born Kent, Richard born Glos. or Alice born Warwicks maybe related to Thomas of Astley but are a geographically disperate bunch!
