Margaret Stewart was born about 1495. She was the daughter of James Stewart (1st Earl of Buchan).

Margaret was married to George Gordon (2nd of Abergeldie) the son of Sir Alexander Gordon (of Abergeldie) and his wife Beatrice Hay.
